May 8, 2009 - PRLog -- The recently launched PsychologyProfOnline.org is a free, online, educational resource that explains psychological disorders and DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria in language that is accessible to the layperson.

Tami Port, a college instructor and featured writer for Suite101.com and LesTout.com, created this psychology site to be dynamic and continuously growing, providing visitors with numerous tools that take the intimidation out of the science of mental health. The site includes easy-to-understand explanations of personality disorders, mood disorders (bipolar and depression), schizophrenia and stalking obsession, as well as links to helpful resources in each category.

Although PsychologyProfOnline.org was created primarily as a supplemental resource for the college courses that Port teaches, the site is free, open to all users and contains educational tools relating to a variety of psychology subtopics including:

•   Psychopathy (Antisocial Personality Disorder)
•   Clinical or Malignant Narcissism
•   Paranoia
•   Depressive Disorders
•   Bipolar Disorder
•   The Schizophrenic Spectrum
•   Resources for victims of stalking

“Those seeking psychology information on the internet need reputable sites with accurate information”, explains Port.  “Psychology Prof Online provides reliable resources and also directs visitors to other trustworthy sites with related information.”

In addition to core material on mental disorders, Psychology Prof Online features general psychology information, self-help resources and a virtual bookstore with mental health reading recommendations.
