Media Critic and Policy Expert Robert Knight Joins Coral Ridge Ministries



Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 7, 2009) -- Media critic and policy expert Robert Knight has joined Coral Ridge Ministries as Senior Writer and Washington, D.C., Correspondent.



A widely quoted journalist and commentator, Knight expressed satisfaction with his new assignment. “I’ve worked alongside Coral Ridge Ministries over the years on various projects and videos, so I am delighted to be working with a talented team that has a track record of excellence.”



He said his main goal at Coral Ridge Ministries http://www.coralridge.org is to “expose and correct media myths about culture, politics, and Christianity. So much reporting today is really just liberal activism disguised as journalism.”



Knight brings with him an extensive background in Christian public policy engagement. A sharp critic of homosexual activism, he helped draft the federal Defense of Marriage Act and was instrumental in its passage in 1996. He also helped defeat the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.



Knight previously served at the Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, and the Culture and Media Institute of the Media Research Center. During his 15-year career as a journalist, he worked for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and the Los Angeles Times, and was a Media Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

He is also author of the forthcoming book, Fighting For America’s Soul: How Sweeping Change Threatens Our Nation and What We Must Do, to be published in June by Coral Ridge Ministries.



A long-time friend of Coral Ridge Ministries, Knight has spoken in past years at ministry conferences and has frequently appeared on The Coral Ridge Hour, the weekly nationwide television broadcast of the media outreach. Most recently, he was an expert panelist on the ministry-produced DVD, Assault on Liberty: The Impact of Hate Crime Laws.
