| FEMA Approval of Hazard Mitigation Plan Opens Funding Opportunities for Ellenville, NYThe Village of Ellenville's Hazard Mitigation Plan, the first such single jurisdictional Plan within Ulster County, has been approved by FEMA. The Village is now in a position to seek funding for priority mitigation projects.
The Plan document represents a collaborative planning effort between the Village, a volunteer Plan Committee and its engineer, Barton & Loguidice, of Ellenville. Once implemented, the Plan will enable all governmental departments to work together on ways to best reduce the impacts of future natural disasters. The Plan refers to a number of identified projects which the Village can now seek funding for including educational initiatives and storm drain maintenance to prevent flooding. The Village Board will now look to implement the strategies in this Plan, provide policy direction for staff, and modify various laws or ordinances as may be required to support implementation of the Plan. According to Mayor Jeffrey Kaplan, “I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our Volunteer Committee and the guidance of Barton & Loguidice. We appreciate the support of both New York State and the Federal government and look forward to implementing key components of the Plan.” A copy of the Plan is available to the public at the Office of the Village. # # # About Barton & Loguidice: Barton & Loguidice, P.C., is an engineering, planning, environmental, and landscape architecture firm with offices in Syracuse, Albany, Rochester, and Ellenville, New York, and an office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
