Winchester Company takes on Web Giants with innovative new service.

May 5, 2009 - PRLog -- A Winchester company is challenging web giants like Amazon and eBay through the launch of its new online shop which provides same day delivery for Internet Orders to selected postcodes in the Winchester area and the service is even free for orders over £20.

Childhood’s Dream, the now popular quality toy shop in Southgate Street opened its doors only last October as the global recession was peaking. So far trade has been better than expected, particularly the critical Christmas trading period.

Susan Whyman, Founder and Director says:  

"The country may be in the grip of a recession, but the same forces that make for recession also make innovation essential. This is not just about becoming a "Clicks and Mortar" business, it is about leading the way by setting new standards of online service for the customer".

The company's IT Systems and website were fully developed in-house by Susan’s husband Tony; he comments:

“It operates through its own high performance web server. This gives it tremendous flexibility in terms of developing the online capability. Customers benefit from having real time stock availability information on the website, and can purchase in confidence that stock will be available and delivered that day. Pure Internet companies such as Amazon lack a local presence and they can’t compete with that”.

Internet and in store prices are the same and customers can be confident that the price they pay will be competitive with the prices from any online or High Street shop. The High Street can fight back against the Internet Giants – not just by joining them, but by doing better and taking advantage of being local.
