Filmmaker raising money for HIV Film on awareness will auction off autographed Coach K basketball &

May 4, 2009 - PRLog -- In an effort to raise money, a local filmmaker will place two auction items on eBay hoping to raise money to complete the production of a short film about HIV titled, "A Cure for Day".  The story takes place on a college campus and centers around the main character Diane Day.  "Day", as she's known on campus, is a track star and scholar.  She finds out that she is HIV positive after getting a routine check up from her doctor, and then turns to denial before being uplifted by a friend who encourages her to become an advocate.  The short film will cover HIV awareness, education, and the importance of getting tested.  

The Filmmaker, Troy “Malik” McNish, has shot over 75% of the film out of pocket and still has more production and editing to conclude the project.  When asked why go to this measure to raise money for a film he states, "Well this is such an important film that will be used to educate so many people about HIV, especially in some of the urban communities and college campuses across America.  This film must be finished, so I looked around my house to see what was the most valuable, and though I hate to see it go, I’d rather see it go for a great cause".

The auction will be begin starting Wednesday, April 29th and will end on Wednesday, May 8th.  To place a bid please visit Ebay.com and search coach K basketball or Bill Cowher autographed old school hat.  Proceeds from the auction will go to funding the short film and screening it nation wide.  The highest bidder will also serve as Executive Producer of the project.

Troy “Malik” McNish, has been a student of film for over ten years, and has produced numerous shorts, music Videos, and corporate videos.  He became an advocate for HIV after working at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals and experiencing first hand the importance of awareness in the community.
