April 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Are you at a loss for creative ideas when it comes to coming up with an idea for a gift for Mother’s Day?  Don’t feel bad because you’re not alone.  Many people feel this way because they want to get the perfect gift for there mom.  Nothing wrong with that.  But James Tevroy does think that certain considerations need to be in place before you can make that important decision.

James thinks that there are several, shall we call, errors of judgement, that people make when they decide on a gift.  The first error is in picking a gift based on what there mom wants, or what they think there mom wants.  If you are going to get a gift that is not the garden variety (flowers, which we will talk about in a bit, or a beautiful card), then you best make sure that this is what they actually want.  You need to keep your ears open and actually listen to what your mom says over time and take notes (I know, us men are not good at this).  But it’s the only way you will find out what she wants.

If she has never mentioned anything to you personally, then James thinks you need to go to more informed  sources.  This could be in the form of the father, or her friends.  Now they must surely know something that you may not.

Another error in judgment that James Tevroy sees might come if they decide to purchase flowers.  Now you might be saying,”How could you run into problems buying flowers?”  James says it’s very possible.  The reason is as follows;

Many people might not know this, but flowers, depending upon which type you purchase as well as the color, represent something.  For example, although you may think that a yellow carnation looks good, the meaning behind them is “disdain and rejection.”  Not a good message to send to your mom on Mothers Day.  On the other hand, a red carnation means “admiration,”  a much better idea.  So know the meaning behind the particular flowers you send before you deliver them to mom.

So if you are looking to get that special gift for your mother, James says to make sure that there is proper planning and thoughtfulness in place before you pull the trigger.
