Garden Spot Village Celebrates National Day of Prayer With Community Prayer Event

April 29, 2009 - PRLog -- Faith-based continuing care retirement community Garden Spot Village will hold a community prayer service for the public Thursday, May 7th in observance of the 58th annual National Day of Prayer.

NEW HOLLAND, PA -- Renowned Pennsylvania retirement community Garden Spot Village will hold a community prayer service with the ELANCO ministerium. The community prayer service held at Garden Spot Village is in celebration of National Day of Prayer on Thurs., May 7. The service will take place at 7 pm in the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. The community is invited to attend.

May 7th marks the 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer, created by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress in 1952. Then-President Harry Truman signed it into law. The National Day of Prayer is observed on the first Thursday in May annually. The National Day of Prayer Task Force coordinates observances across the country.

"We are pleased to participate in this event and to team together with ELANCO ministerium in promoting prayer in our community. This service will include participants from local churches in addition to Garden Spot Village residents and staff," said Chet Yoder, Director of Pastoral Care at Garden Spot Village (http://www.gardenspotvillage.org).

The guide for the service will be the acronym PRAY, which stands for 'Praise,' 'Repent,' 'Ask' and 'Yield.'

Garden Spot Village is a faith-based continuing care retirement community. The ELANCO ministerium is composed of pastors and ministry leaders of churches and ministries within the Eastern Lancaster County School District.
