April 25, 2009 - PRLog -- [San Francisco Bay Area, CA] - How often do you have the chance to experience a performance that will leave you filled with feelings of joy and hope?

And how many times do you get a second chance just a few months later to join the crowd at such a rare event?

Following the wildly successful Chinese New Year Spectacular, Shen Yun Performing Arts returns to the Bay Area May 15-17 with its breathtaking classical Chinese dance and live orchestral music. Seven shows at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House and four at the Cupertino Flint Center in January were so well-received that the company is returning for a spring encore.

Shen Yun, previously known as "Divine Performing Arts," has changed its name in English to match the Chinese name in pronunciation, though the meaning has not changed - and certainly the high-caliber performances have not changed.

Showgoers on four continents have witnessed an unparalleled and unprecedented tour de force of the best of 5,000 years of Chinese culture.

Discover firsthand why Shen Yun Performing Arts critically acclaimed as "Breathtaking," "Brilliant," and "Glorious".

What they say about the show...

Broadway Critic: 'I will give this production 5 starts'

Mr. Connema, a critic for Talkin' Broadway magazine called the Shen Yun Performing Arts Chinese New Year Spectacular "mind-blowing" in San Francisco after the show in January.

“I probably have reviewed over three to four thousand shows since 1942. A lot of reviewers use stars, you know, 1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars, 4 stars, 5 stars… I will give this production 5 stars. That’s the top,” he said.

“The dancers were absolutely fantastic … I found out that there was not only dancing in this but heart. You could feel that coming even from where I was sitting … Just a beautiful production I found that those backdrop scenes and the way it was projected and the way it comes out is absolutely fantastic.

“I’ve never seen anything like that. I’ve seen enough Broadway shows that still cannot compare to what I saw tonight. The best word to use was mind-blowing. And I watched around the audience and they all were so involved with everything going on.

“There’s movement between everything, even the narrators coming up, giving you a little insight and they move right into a dance… perfect!

In his article on the Shen Yun performance on TalkinBroadway.com, Mr. Connema raves about the show: "This production was truly spectacular in all senses of the world."

Mr. Sary Dowidar, a conductor and composer, praised the show when he saw it in San Francisco. "The arrangement is genius," he said, "The composer could make music reach to our heart and soul. He made a very nice connection between the traditional Chinese instrument and the whole orchestra and he has a very mix down between the both... I would like to see it more than twice or three times or four times," Mr. Dowidar said.
