Business Owner Turned Author
Local Jacksonville business owner turns author after selling his business. L. E. Levy now writes children's books.
Mr. Levy started writing while in high school and had small successes publishing his writings. In 2008, Mr. Levy sold LevyNET, L.L.C. an IT consulting company. With time on his hands and the economy shrinking rapidly, Mr. Levy turned to what he loves most; writing. He took an idea from his daughter and wrote Harry The Hungry Frog, Harry Ventures Out. The book is about a frog who wants more than bugs to eat and hops to a local pizzeria. As Levy states, "I had been writing for years, but with three little girls it was natural to write a children's book."
Writing the book was the easy part according to Levy. Finding the right illustrator was the hard part. After much interviewing, he found an illustrator though his publisher, High Pitched Hum Publishing. "After I received a draft of the cover, I knew Mrs. Bellinger was the right illustrator for my story." Once the illustrations were done, it was just a matter of printing the book.
"Now the fun parts starts," says Levy. Levy plans on using his years of marketing experience to market the book. Through on-line advertising and traditional book signings, Levy plans to sell the first printing within 4 months. "I really want this book to be a success." Levy says. He will release the second book in the Harry The Hungry Frog series in just a matter of a few months.
Levy's books are designed to be interactive, with a recipe at the end of each book based on the restaurant Harry goes to. "I have been getting a tremendous amount of support and encouragement from my family and friends and hope that everyone who reads the book will enjoy it," said Levy.
