April 24, 2009 - PRLog -- A new on-line publication which provides a daily news update on land-based transport and lists car rental companies, airport shuttle services as well as metropolitan and intercity bus and rail time tables for South Africa has been launched on the internet.
The publication – Transport & Tourism News (TNT News) – has been posted by Udo Rypstra, an award-winning transport and tourism journalist, following eight months of painstaking research, development and database input.
“I am sure it will be a handy guide for thousands of foreign sports fans who must currently be planning their travel arrangements for the Fifa Confederations Cup in June and the Fifa World Cup next year. I have even posted the proposed rates for the Gautrain,” Rypstra says.
Phase two of the project is to list all road freight operators and their areas of specialisation – courier services, household removals, refrigerated and dangerous goods, etc. – which is underway.
A separate guide already lists almost 1000 light to extra-heavy commercial vehicle models on offer in South Africa by category – not manufacturer – as well as their latest prices. Apart from coaches, buses and government-approved midi- and midi taxies, there are separate categories for messenger bikes, pickups, vans, tippers, compactors, just to name a few.
“The idea now is to link each vehicle model to the respective vehicle specification page on the manufacturer’s website so that people will not only be able to compare prices in each category easily, but compare performance data as well. After all, the cheapest is not always the best in the long run,” Rypstra says.
The publication can be viewed at www.tntnews.co.za
