April 16, 2009 - PRLog -- CoolCorC, LLC is a family owned business redefining the use of cork. The CoolCorC cup sleeve and CoolCorC Czarf are the only cup sleeves utilizing the natural beauty and insulative qualities of cork.

CoolCorC, LLC has been invited to participate in Earth Day in Hollywood 2009 Gift Bags that are produced each year by Distinctive Assets. Each of the 25 celebrity recipients of Gift Bags that include fabulous, earth-friendly products will receive CoolCorC disposable cup sleeves, CoolCorC Czarfs (reusable sleeves), and CoolCorC coasters.  Such celebrity recipients include: Justin Timberlake, Melissa Etheridge, Drew Barrymore, Sting and Tina Fey.

According to the World Wildlife fund cork is “the most sustainable forestry product in the world.” Harvesting cork is much like shearing a sheep. The cork tree is striped of its bark, but instead of dying like most trees, this actually helps the tree live longer. The cork tree can live over 200 years but can only be harvested every 7 to 9 years; this aids in maintaining the ecosystem and the villages supported by the cork forest. Some of the most endangered animals in the world are supported by the cork forests: the Iberian Lynx, the Imperial Eagle, the Golden Takin, and the Golden Monkey. The value of cork is what keeps those trees from being torn down to make way for farmland.

Cork is mainly harvested by hand, so heavy machinery is never brought into the cork forests.  Around the Mediterranean, small tractors assist the farmers.  In Central Asia, where the trees grow much closer together and on mountain sides, all of the harvesting is done on foot. Cork is very unprocessed and the cork CoolCorC utilizes is made from the remnants of the bark after cork bottle stoppers are drilled out.

Plus, cork is biodegradable, recyclable, buoyant, waterproof, hypoallergenic and insulative!  Because CoolCorC's products are made of cork, they are also biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and recyclable. Also, the CoolCorC disposable cup sleeve can be utilized in composting.

CoolCorC products are perfect for restaurants, spas, resorts, markets, groceries, cafes, coffeehouses, hotels, weddings and anyone wanting environmentally conscious products.
