April 16, 2009 - PRLog -- For so many, Mother’s Day Brunch at the Thayer Hotel has become a longstanding tradition, and over the years, the popular brunch has attracted more generations of the same families, along with many new families.  This Mother’s Day, the Thayer’s dining room expects to serve record crowds on Sunday, May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.


The Thayer always creates memorable Mother’s Day brunches with a sumptuous array of the finest foods and beautiful Hudson River views.  For starters, choose from a huge assortment of breads, including bagels, croissants, mini Kaiser rolls, doughnuts, apple turnovers and muffins.  An omelet and waffle station will offer delicious custom-made selections, or choose other hot breakfast items like scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, and sausage.

Appetizers will include cheese and fresh fruit plates, shrimp cocktail, and smoked salmon, while salad selections will feature artichoke-mushroom, fresh green bean, pasta, seafood, tomato-mozzarella, asparagus, baby corn, and garbanzo bean.

For lunch, indulge in a wide variety of hot entrees including quiche, pasta dishes, and a wide variety of chicken and fish dishes.  Also, don’t forget the carving stations offering steaming hot roast beef au jus and turkey.

Finally, the dessert buffet will feature an incredible selection of delicacies, such as cheesecake, éclairs, cream puffs, cannolis, cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, trifles and chocolate mousse.

Enjoy the Thayer’s incredible culinary creations, plus complimentary champagne, mimosas and bloody Mary’s for just $39.95 per person or $20 per person for children under 12.  Tax and gratuities are included.

Built in 1926, the Thayer Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the only full-service hotel on the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge to Albany, New York.  Originally constructed to accommodate U.S. Military Academy personnel and their guests, the Thayer Hotel was a successor of the original West Point Hotel.  The Hotel is named for Colonel Sylvanus Thayer, Superintendent of the Academy from 1817 to 1833.

Over the years, it has hosted a long line of dignitaries and celebrities including General Tommy Franks, General Douglas MacArthur, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, President John F.
