The fully dynamic web configurator allows users to view their customized vehicle from four different angles while switching any configuration, color, option or accessory. Unlike other virtual viewers, RTT’s configurators are photorealistic, showing users exactly what their vehicle would look like down to the grain of the seat leather and the glow of burled wood trim. With the help of Audi creative agency Factory Design Labs, RTT produced demo movies for the campaign including the “Truth in Engineering” “One of the key reasons consumers visit an automaker’s Web site is to learn more about a vehicle and its options,” said Jeroen Snepvangers, CEO of RTT USA, Inc. “The experience Audi offers consumers online immerses them in the product truths and emotion of the brand.” In the past, the traditional computer-generated (CG) process could cost companies millions of dollars in computer hardware investment, not to mention 30 minutes or more to render each image. Consider a 24-vehicle brand; in order to render a 360-degree spin for each model (in each trim and each color) you would need about 90,000 images (and 43,000 computer hours!). With RTT’s realtime rendering software, the same project now takes seconds per image so the project can be completed in a fraction of the time, at a fraction of the cost.
