Orientskys First Private Jet Provider In Asia To Offer Clients Carbon Offsets For Their Flights

April 8, 2009 - PRLog -- OrientSKYs, a fast-growing private jet charter network with head offices located in Bangkok, Thailand, announces that it has already begun to offer its clients the opportunity to offset carbon emissions on its exclusive fleet of aircraft based throughout Asia.

“As far as I know, we are the only private jet charter company in Asia who currently offers our  clients the opportunity to offset their carbon emissions…furthermore, the cost of this program typically represents less than 1/3 of 1% of the total booking price.  ” said Trevor Merszei, Director of Marketing & Sales for OrientSKYs.

OrientSKYs has joined forces with Plant a Tree Today (PATT) Foundation to provide a reliable and simple way to offset the Co2 emissions generated from charter jet flights. PATT Foundation has calculated the hourly carbon dioxide emission (CO2) rates for all the jets within the OrientSKYs fleet.  The money for the OrientSKYs carbon offset program goes directly to PATT Foundation and funds the planting of trees within their ‘carbon free’ project in the North East of Thailand. Unlike many carbon offset projects PATT aims to consider the bigger picture for their project development. They consider the local community and long term sustainability of the tree planting. In particular the tree planting aims to restore a community forest on abandoned marginal land for the restoration of biodiversity, carbon sequestration and as a community resource. The projects also implement training and capacity building initiative on sustainable forest management within the village, and establish a nursery managed by the youth committee. Funding to this project will also be allocated for the establishment of a village cooperative micro credit bank, and additional programs aimed at combating environmental issues, poverty and urban migration.
