Unimed-Midwest Announces New Products: Flexible, Breathable Body Shield Supports Help Heal Injur

New Body Shield body supports with advanced open cell Holofiber fabric are more effective and comfortable than neoprene-based supports. Body Shield body supports increase patients’ compliance, comfort and healing.

April 6, 2009 - PRLog -- What good is a post-operative or post-injury support, if the patient doesn’t wear it? Current products are uncomfortable for patients and make them sweat. The support ends up in a drawer, and the patient doesn’t heal. Body Shield body supports are comfortable to wear and easy to don, resulting in increased compliance and faster healing.

Worn under clothing and next to skin, Body Shield body supports are constructed of open cell foam fabric with Holofiber. Open cell foam minimizes bruising and reduces swelling after surgical procedures, while wicking away moisture and heat, unlike neoprene-based products which do not breathe and lose support after skin becomes hot and sweaty. Holofiber is proven by a clinical study to direct ambient light energy into skin, increasing skin’s oxygen levels 10% on average, promoting healing and tissue recovery.

The Body Shield fabric is low stretch for firm support, and body supports have strong, easy to use Velcro closures. This results in even compression and the option of wearing as long as needed. There is no potential of constriction over time, unlike ace bandages and other wraps.

Body Shield is available in supports for almost any body part, including abdominal binders for post-operative cosmetic procedures and post-maternity. Wrist, elbow, ankle, thigh and knee supports help heal athletic and general injuries, and promote circulation in diabetics and those with circulatory problems. Chiropractic supports include trochanter belts and back and posture supports.

Plastic Surgeon Peter A. Vogt, M.D. has seen positive results with the abdominal binder: “The binder has benefited my patients by reducing postoperative swelling and bruising with comfortable compression. It has also increased patients’ comfort and compliance, which is important because patients wear the binder 2-6 weeks postoperatively.”

Chiropractors see the benefits of Body Shield supports as well. “Patients report a decrease in the frequency and duration of their pain, allowing them to return to work and resume daily activities with regular use of the back support,” states chiropractor Dr. Paul J. Puetz.
