April 3, 2009 - PRLog -- Circuit Wellness teams up with Scouts to provide a fun and educational way for kids to earn their fitness badges, while addressing the obesity & inactivity epidemic among kids.

Neighborhood fitness center located in NE Columbus helps girls & boys establish healthy habits young.

Unique to this area, Circuit Wellness also offers “Exergaming” which is exercising using video game technology.  “Exergaming is a fairly new concept that is taking off as we spread the word and get more people involved. This concept is perfect for the more sedentary youth who prefers to play video games, watch TV or sit at the computer then to play outside.  We offer products such as The Lightspace Play Floor, Makoto Sports Arena, Wii, Wii Fit, Dance Dance Revolution, Xavix and Exerbikes – where you have to pedal the bike to make the game work.” said Polly Benson, owner. “Through the scouts, we are raising awareness of getting active and starting healthy habits at a young age.”

Circuit Wellness provides "mini seminars" to the scouts on fitness, nutrition and exercise, and actually takes the kids through group exergaming and drills.  The activities include, but are not limited to, stretching, exercise, agility drills, circuit training, functional fitness training, station training, obstacle courses, and finding their heart rate /exercise heart rate.  “We also discuss diet, calorie burn and test the kids in several fitness skills.”  They measure height, weight, BMI, body fat as part of a fitness assessment and even take them through a 30 minute circuit workout if appropriate.  Each class is customized to the age and needs of the scouting group and allows time for free play at the end.

“Circuit Wellness is helping families to spend healthy time together, while they improve their overall well being in a safe, non-intimidating, and fun fitness facility.  It’s a place where the whole family can go and get fit together.”  “We also are reaching out to the special needs populations.  Because I am an Occupational Therapist, parents feel comfortable with our staff working with their children.”

Circuit Wellness was launched in October 2008. They are focused on making a difference in the lives of kids in the central Ohio region, by offering camps, classes and gaming products that are fighting the raging epidemic of childhood obesity.  “Stop in and see what this facility can offer your children, we guarantee it will make a difference in their lives.”
The Westerville Area Circuit Wellness location is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 9pm, Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday from 8:00-3:00.  They have private parties and events after hours on Friday nights, as well as Saturday & Sunday, from 2:00 –9 pm.
