March 30, 2009 - PRLog -- "World Autism Awareness Day is a UN resolution adopted in December of 2007.  This UN resolution is one of only three official disease-specific United Nations Days and will bring the world's attention to autism, a pervasive disorder that affects tens of millions. The World Autism Awareness Day resolution encourages all Member States to take measures to raise awareness about autism throughout society and to encourage early diagnosis and early intervention. It further expresses deep concern at the prevalence and high rate of autism in children in all regions of the world and the consequent developmental challenges." http://www.worldautismawarenessday.org

"Research indicates, that early behavioral intervention for at least two years during the preschool years can result in significant improvements in IQ and language ability for many young children with autism spectrum disorders.  As soon as autism is diagnosed, behavioral intervention should begin.  Effective programs focus on developming communication, social and cognitive skills."

A Better Day Learning Center is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing therapeutic and day care services to children with special needs including children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Therapeutic services include Behavior Analysis Therapy to address challenging behaviors as well as Verbal Behavior Therapy for children with underdeveloped verbal and communication skills.

Our staff will work with those individuals whose families are unable to financially support therapies needed for the enhancement of needed daily living and social skills.  It is our goal to assure that no child is left untreated due to financial difficulties.  Working together with the parents and all caregivers will ensure Better Days for all.

The bake sale will be held in two sites in the greater Miami Area. We would like to thank Publix Supermarkets in Doral and Westchester for allowing us to hold our bake sales at their locations:  Doral - Northwest 97th Avenue and NW 41st Street; Westchester - Southwest 40th Street and Palmetto (next to the Target).  Proceeds of  A Better Day Learning Center's World Autism Awareness Day bake sale will go towards the center’s facility development.
