March 28, 2009 - PRLog -- London, 29 January, 2008 – Dailymotion, the world’s largest independent video sharing site, is to stream independent Scottish film, ‘One Day Removals’ this weekend.  The black comedy, scheduled to show at the Glasgow Film Festival in February 2009, follows the adventures of two unremarkable Scottish removal men, who have a particularly bad day.  It will premier online at www.dailymotion.com/gb from noon on 30th January until 10.00 Tuesday 3rd February.
Set in Aberdeenshire, the film was directed by independent Scottish filmmaker, Mark Stirton.  It stars Scottish actors Scott Ironside and Patrick Wight.  The film’s producers have created an official branded profile on Dailymotion for the film which hosts trailers, clips and cast interviews at www.dailymotion.com/OneDayRemovals-Movie.

The director of ‘One Day Removals’, Mark Stirton, explains, “We made the film last year and are seeking a distribution deal.  Showing the film online will enable us to reach a global audience, who we hope will attend the festival, buy the DVD and support us with our next film.  We are working with Dailymotion because of the high quality video player, and the company’s support of the independent film industry.”

Digby Lewis, Creative Director of Dailymotion UK adds, “One Day Removals is an amusing black comedy that takes the viewer on a journey into the darker side of Scotland.  We will promote the film to our global audience and encourage people to watch it on demand over the weekend.  We are keen to increase the amount of long and short form exclusive content available to our viewers.’

The streaming follows the online premier of political thriller, ‘WMD’, which debuted on Dailymotion in December at the same time as it was revealed at CINECITY, The Brighton Film Festival.  Dailymotion offers a mix of official content from partners such as ITNON, Channel 4, Viacom/MTV Networks and Universal Music, alongside user-generated content and creative content from independent film makers, ‘Motionmakers’, which is curated by Dailymotion’s programming team.   The site receives 15,000 video uploads each day and aims to increase its content from the UK’s independent film making community.

One Day Removals is a co-production between Stirton Productions and The Canny Film Partnership Limited.  Mark Stirton, has over fourteen years experience in drama and television production in the UK: producing his first short film, ‘Spooked’(1995), at the age of 25. ‘Spooked,’ was nominated for an award at the 1996 Glasgow Film Festival. Mark studied broadcast media at Aberdeen College and worked as a cameraman / vision mixer for a local television station before setting up Stirton Productions, in 2003.  He produced several short movies before breaking into the feature length market, turning one of his short films, ‘Removals,’ (2003) into the basis for the current production.
