March 27, 2009 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, Florida--Fort Lauderdale based Jail Time Consulting just announced that its widely used and popular paperback manual, “Jail Time, What you need to know…Before you go to federal prison!”, was just released as a downloadable e-book. Jail Time is the standard bearer and accepted primer for men and women facing federal incarceration. It is now available for immediate download on the Jail Time Consulting website, http://jailtimeconsulting.com. Michael Frantz, a leading national federal prison consultant and author of Jail Time made the announcement on a radio interview earlier today. Michael Frantz explained, “Apparently, people just don’t want to wait for the standard USPS two day priority shipping. We have had so many requests for Jail Time as a downloadable e-book that we had to do something. The e-book format provides a great solution and it saves the reader some money. Readers want immediate access to the book. They want to be able to download Jail Time and have on the spot availability.” Frantz also commented that the popularity of Jail Time has prompted the publisher, Dog Ear Publishing to begin construction on a separate website for sales of the well-liked paperback book. Jail Time, in the near future, will be available on both the Jail Time Consulting website and also on the additional publisher website, http://jailtimebook.com. Michael Frantz commented that the new website should be operational within a few weeks.

Currently both the e-book, available for $39.95, and the paperback, priced at $49.95, are available on the Jail Time Consulting website. The new publisher website will only sell the paperback version.

Frantz attributes many factors to the instant popularity of Jail Time. First and foremost, the federal government currently has a 97% guilty plea rate in federal criminal cases. Frantz states that this is primarily due to the increased crack down of white-collar crime initially sparked by Jeffrey Skilling of Enron, Bernie Ebbers of WorldCom, media celebrity Martha Stewart, and recently Westgate Capital Fund founder Bernard Madoff. Madoff, the convicted Ponzi scheme mastermind outraged all Americans with the breadth and depth of his $50 billion dollar deception.  As a matter of fact, the whole Wall Street banking debacle has outraged Americans. Second, federal prosecutors have over a 75% conviction rate following trial. Frantz commented that the federal government is prosecuting white-collar crime more vigorously than in the past. The enormous backlash of public outrage at some of these white-collar crimes has pressured the federal government to come down aggressively and swiftly on all white-collar criminals. There is no more Club Fed in the Bureau of Prisons’ system! Finally, Frantz  also indicated that ninety-one percent of federal criminal defendants go to prison. It is no longer a question of will I go to federal prison, it's a question of where will I go and how long will I be there? With statistics like those staring you in the face, more and more people facing federal prison want and need an authoritative source on all aspects of federal prison life and the choices they have—and they want it now.

Jail Time is over 400-pages of invaluable information about federal incarceration and how to plan for it. It prepares men and women for life in federal prison and directs them what to do to live through it. Jail Time delves into the nitty gritty of prison truths and folklore and deals with the realities of federal incarceration. Is federal prison really like the movie, "The Shawshank Redemption", or the television series "Oz" or "Prison Break"? Well, Jail Time provides the answer to that question and many, many more.

Jail Time starts with the defendant’s trek through the Criminal Prosecution Process and his remand into federal custody or his self-surrender.  His journey to federal prison is graphically described including "Con Air", "diesel therapy", and "wearing the iron". Once he arrives at federal prison, Jail Time explains the "Unwritten Rules of Prison Life"; what he should and should not do once he arrives. The monotonous and boring daily prison schedule is systematically portrayed and illustrated. Contraband, black market shopping, drugs, sex, recreation, sentence reduction programs, furloughs, transfers, security levels, facility designation, and many, many other subjects are elucidated for the reader. The inmate’s release to post-prison life is presented including halfway house, supervised release, and possible home confinement. Although the inmate is out of a federal prison, there are mandatory rules and conditions that must be followed in a halfway house and on supervised release to keep the inmate (now called defendant) from returning.

Finally the day comes and he is free, or is he? Halfway House and Supervised Release may be over, but what about all the freedoms he lost? How does he get those back? How does he get a job? How does he regain his rights? How does he go about expunging or clearing his record? Jail Time provides the answers.

Jail Time also contains an extensive glossary of Prison Terms and Inmate Language as well as many commonly used Bureau of Prison forms.  Jail Time has an extensive Q & A section with answers to 130 of the most frequently asked questions about federal prison.  Jail Time prepares and positions the defendant to effectively transition from his current normal life to his new life while under the auspices of the Bureau of Prisons.

The mission of Jail Time is to provide its readers with the knowledge, information, and real facts about federal incarceration and how to get through it. Jail Time and Jail Time Consulting provide assistance to help the defendant/inmate reduce his federal prison sentence through BOP programs such as the 500-Hour Residential Drug Abuse Program and to get back home in the shortest possible time. Federal prison isn’t easy, but with Jail Time to help, educate, and inform, it is manageable.
