Reservations are now being accepted.  Whether booking online or by telephone, the rate code CUE is required. Rates start from $146, based on availability and only for overnight stays Thursdays through Sundays.  The package combines the luxury accommodations of the Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza, with the acclaimed cuisine of its companion restaurant, PELAGIA.  Saltimbanco tickets are not included in the package but may be purchased with the assistance of the hotel’s concierge or directly through the designated Box Office or Web site (details below).

Cirque du Soleil, renowned worldwide for dazzling productions featuring artistic entertainment and acrobatic feats, opens in Lakeland for the first time April 29 – May 3 and returns to the Tampa Bay area this summer, June 25 – July 5, with the acclaimed production of Saltimbanco.

Saltimbanco, performed for the first time in Florida this year, remains as relevant and powerful today as it was when it first debuted in 1992.  The show, first performed in the “Grand Chapiteau” Big Top tent, has been reconfigured to fit into existing arenas, like the Lakeland Center and the St. Pete Times Forum in downtown Tampa, to give audiences an opportunity to enjoy a Cirque du Soleil show in their own city.

From the Italian “saltare in banco,” which means “to jump on a bench,” Saltimbanco explores the urban experience.   The high intensity acrobatic spectacle takes place in an imaginary city where diversity is cause for hope.  The set reflects the contradictions of a city, where the powerful and dispossessed live side-by-side.  This is a city inhabited by eclectic, eccentric populations; a place where anything is possible.

Like all other Cirque du Soleil shows, Saltimbanco borrows from theater, dance and music, features spectacular costumes, lighting and make-up and creates an experience that both amuses and amazes.  The current cast of 49 artists, 15 of whom were part of the show’s original big top tour, hails from Canada and 20 other countries.  Full of color, amusement and amazement, Saltimbanco is a fun show for the whole family to enjoy.

Saltimbanco tickets for Lakeland performances may be purchased at www.cirquedusoleil.com, or by calling at (863) 834-8111.

Saltimbanco tickets for Tampa performances may be purchased online at www.cirquedusoleil.com or by calling 813-287-8844.  Tickets range from $40 to $110 for adults and $32 to $88 for children (12 & under).
