March 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Reading March 30th! Good Heavens!

The Living Theatre continues it Readings Above Realism Series on March 30th with a free staged reading of Daniel Guyton’s verse drama The Mother of God Visits Hell.

Always the champion of bold forms, The Living turns this month to iambic pentameter – the rarest of forms for modern playwrights! Guyton’s play is a dramatic poem – a celestial fable presenting the heavenly drama among the Eternals - Mary, Satan, and God himself.

One of the missions of The Living Theatre, founded in 1947 by Judith Malina and Julian Beck, is to support verse drama, a nearly forgotten form. The Living is delighted to present this new play in an old tradition.

The reading will feature Judith Malina, who founded the company in 1947. On March 25th, Ms. Malina was presented with the Edwin Booth by the City University of New York, the latest of her many honors.

About The Living Theatre: TLT is one of the most respected and influential theatre companies in the world. Founded in 1947 by Judith Malina and Julian Beck, it exploded on the theatre scene with its radically bold forms and openly political content. It remains committed to non-violent social change.
