March 25, 2009 - PRLog -- The World Stem Cell Foundation (WSCF) announces its second fund-raising Golf Tournament to support stem cell research, educational outreach and funding to provide scholarships for patients who have exhausted other options and are seeking alternative treatment. The golf tournament will be held on Monday, April 20th, 2009 at the La Quinta Resort and Spa Mountain Course.

“WSCF is delighted to again have the legendary NFL player and Senior PGA Tour golfer John Brodie, himself a beneficiary of stem cell treatment, associated with our second fund-raising golf tournament. Last year we raised over $100,000 and we hope to increase that amount in 2009,” said Dan Peddie, Chairman of World Stem Cell Foundation.

A major sponsor of the tournament will be Stemedica Cell Technologies, a leader in adult stem cell manufacturing. Stemedica sponsored and played in last year’s event and has agreed to be this year’s event sponsor along with purchasing a foursome to play in the event, which will include the Executive Chairman, CEO, and two Directors.

“Stemedica is committed to supporting the World Stem Cell Foundation in its efforts to educate and disseminate information about stem cell treatments that can make a huge difference in the quality of life for No Option patients,” said Maynard Howe, CEO and Vice Chairman at Stemedica.

Adds Dan Peddie, “We really appreciate the generous sponsorship of Stemedica Cell Technologies and other companies that understand the potential adult stem cell therapy represents to the future of medicine. We expect significant growth and development within the stem cell industry over the coming years and look forward to playing a role in both informing patients about further treatment options and providing scholarships to those who need financial assistance for their treatment.”
