Mercedes-Benz launches the world premiere right hand drive of the new E-Class Coupé

March 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Bangkok -- Mercedes-Benz Thailand as the leading luxury car company in the industry lines-up 19 of its latest model cars for the Bangkok International Motor Show from 26th March to 6th April 2009 at BITEC Exhibition Center, Bangna.      

This year the Mercedes-Benz stand focuses on innovative elements of the brand with a showcase of all the latest products for the model year 2009, together with special campaigns for Mercedes-Benz E-Class and S-Class.      

Prof. Dr. Alexander Paufler, President & CEO Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) said “The concept for this year’s stand shows Mercedes-Benz as a lifestyle product featuring innovative technology and creative design.  The highlights are not just the outstanding range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, but also the exceptional technology, design and safety components of the brand.

The special highlight for Mercedes-Benz is the world premiere of the new, stunning, right hand drive Mercedes-Benz E 350 AVANTGARDE Coupé Sports AMG.  In addition, it takes its place with other exciting new vehicles from Mercedes-Benz, such as the new generation ML 280 CDI and the new generation B 180 CDI Sports Tourer.      

For the new Mercedes-Benz E 350 AVANTGARDE Coupé Sports AMG, Mercedes engineers have developed a V6 power plant that brings the sporty qualities of the new E-Class generation to the fore. Engine output has been powered to 200kW/272 hp at 6,000 rpm, while the peak torque is 350 Nm at 2,400-5,000 rpm. The power plant accelerates the new E-Class from 0 to 100 Km/h in a mere 6.4 seconds and the top speed of approx. 250 Km/h. at the price of 7,999,000 baht.      

The Coupé offers all the technical innovations of the new E-Class series that one might expect to find in a sports-oriented luxury coupé. These include selective damper control, drowsiness detection, preventive occupant protection and the Active Bonnet. As a feature specific to the Coupé, the Dynamic Driving package allows different suspension setups at the touch of a button. Adaptive Main Beam Assist and system are other features with which the new series sets standards in this vehicle category.  

For further highlight products of Mercedes-Benz include The New Generation Mercedes-Benz B 180 CDI Sports Tourer which has undergone facelift across a broad range of features from environmental compatibility to styling, comfort, handling and safety.  B 180 CDI Sports Tourer powered four-cylinder diesel engine of 1992 cc, output at 80/109 kW/hp, 250 rated torque Nm at 1,600 to 2,600 rpm, acceleration 0-100 km/h within 11.8 seconds, top speed at 178 km/h.      

Another highlight model of the year 2009 is The New Generation Mercedes ML 280 CDI Sports which has been the trendsetter among today’s SUV’s. The new generation of this highly successful vehicle features even more distinctive characteristics and looks even sportier and more powerful.  ML 280 CDI Sports NG powered by V6 engine of 2,987 cc, output at 140kW (190 hp) at 4,000 rpm, 440 rated torque  Nm at 1,400 - 2,800 rpm, acceleration 0-100 km/h within 9.8 seconds, top speed at 205 km/h.    

In addition to the above, there are two popular niche models - the CLC 200 KOMPRESSOR Sports Coupé and the SLK 200 KOMPRESSOR which was successfully launched in 2008.  The SLK-Class roadsters have long captured the hearts of sports car enthusiasts.      

The vehicles being showcased at the event are the Mercedes-Benz premium models C-Class, E-Class and the flagship S-Class.  The Mercedes C-Class models range from C 230 AVANTGARDE, C 200 KOMPRESSOR ELEGANCE, C 200 KOMPRESSOR AVANTGARDE, C 200 KOMPRESSOR CLASSIC; 4 car models of the E-Class range from E 200 NGT ELEGANCE, E 200 KOMPRESSOR AVANTGARDE Premium Edition, E 220 CDI CLASSIC, E 230  2.5 AVANTGARDE Sports Premium Edition; and 3 models of S-Class range from S 300 L, S 320 CDI L and top luxury model S 500 L.  All of the models are CKD units in which Mercedes-Benz Thailand has won “Mercedes-Benz Quality Award CKD” from its Headquarters in Germany.      

In Commercial Vehicles, Mercedes-Benz shows the Vito Extra Long Wheelbase which is more spacious than ever and represents a unique blend of comfort, safety and economy coming with more car accessories such as electric sliding door, Parktronic, and Cruise Control. The Vito 115 CDI Extra Long Wheelbase comes with diesel engine 2,148 cc./150 hp at 3,800 rpm.        

Another Commercial Vehicle being showcased is the new Mercedes Sprinter, one of the world's most successful van models. The new Sprinter comes with V6 engine, electronically controlled injection, exhaust gas recirculation 24 valves, 3.5 litres.  The vehicle provides side access to the passenger compartment with sliding door on the right-left hand side of the vehicle and the rear doors are fitted with special hinges which allow them to be opened approx. 270 degrees.      

The technology corner exhibits Mercedes-Benz's sustainability strategy with ‘TrueBlueSolutions’, in which Mercedes-Benz combines automobile fascination with ecological responsibility for emission free future. Each new series that is launched delivers vastly improved fuel economy and lower exhaust emissions.
