NFM To Display Extrusion Technology At NPE 2009

NFM, a US-based manufacturing company, is unveiling new plastic extrusion technology at the National Plastics Exposition (NPE) 2009. NFM specializes in twin-screw, single screw and specialty extrusion machinery and systems.

March 23, 2009 - PRLog -- Massillon, Ohio USA: NFM, an industry leader in plastic and rubber processing systems and equipment, will display new and improved extrusion technologies at NPE 2009 – Booth 77015, North Hall.

Featured will be NFM’s TEM Series of co-rotating, intermeshing twin screw extruders, which offer the highest torque per free volume and highest screw speed of any commercially available system. The TEM Series is renowned for its use in a wide variety of compounds and processes.

Highlighted for NPE will be NFM’s TEM extruder with a newly designed high output Crammer Feeder for direct feeding and compounding of low bulk density and non-free flowing materials such as fluff from recycled carpet, foamed materials, and fine or odd shaped particles.

TEM extruders are modular and reconfigurable, including dispersive and distributive mixing attributes, as well as devolatilization and dewatering. Finished products can be directly extruded or pelletized by the TEM. Typical compounding applications include polymer blending, color concentrate, composite alloying and high filler loadings of up to 80%. The TEM Series is available in sizes ranging from 26mm lab scale, to 240mm for large production.

Also displayed at NPE will be NFM’s very popular ARIES Control System. The PLC based system uses visibility, animation, and touch to perform complex processing control tasks. The ARIES system can operate a complete extrusion line, including auxiliary and downstream equipment.

NFM recently reinvested in it’s Ohio Extrusion Lab replacing existing equipment with a new state of the art TEM extruder, ARIES control, feeding and pelletizing systems. Including traditional applications, NFM has been highly successful in development of unusual and special processes utilizing their lab facility. Developments in materials of construction have surpassed the challenges for highly corrosive and abrasive processes and have been proven in production environment for many years. This includes carbide and nickel alloy components. NFM’s NPE exhibit will also include an array of these items.

NFM also designs and builds the HSX and HRX Series of single screw plastic and rubber extrusion systems. The HSX and HRX Series are available in sizes and configurations to suit the extrusion application.

Additionally, NFM is the technology champion with it’s WE Series of counter rotating, non-intermeshing, twin screw extruders. The WE extruders are used for petrochemical polymer finishing applications including devolatilization, drying and coagulation. They are also used for reactive extrusion, hot melt adhesives and plastics recycling. The WE extruders are uniquely capable of low shear compounding which is beneficial for shear sensitive polymers and long fiber reinforced compounds.
