March 20, 2009 - PRLog -- From a panel of financial experts to a tough-talking career workshop to health screenings, this year’s Nevada Women’s Expo addresses top-of-the-mind issues for women. The subjects are serious and in tune with the times, to give women attendees some help and support. Along with this serious side, the Expo offers a “girls’ day off” with shopping, spa massages, food, wine-tasting and a little belly dancing just for fun.

News Anchor Kristen Remington (of Reno KTVN Channel 2) launches the Nevada Women’s Expo this year, with Money Watch, Remington’s moderated panel of financial experts. They’ll field questions about home loans, credit, refinancing, and even bankruptcy, from expo attendees.

Dr. Adrianne Ahern, author of Snap Out of It Now! and Back in Charge! Is offering a workshop specifically for women who have been hit financially (lost jobs, homes or retirement funds) due to the current economic recession. “Times are tough. But as long as we buy into the power of external circumstances to run our lives, we’re sunk,” says Ahern. Her three-hour experiential, practical workshop is free to Nevada Women’s Expo attendees and limited to the first 50 people who sign up for it.

Free health screenings are another big offering at this year’s Nevada Women’s Expo. The complimentary and low-cost health screenings are part of Renown Health's efforts to empower women to take control of their wellness programs and achieve optimum health. Free health screenings include body fat, glucose, blood pressure, skin cancer, heel scan for bone density, breast exams, and a low-cost vascular screening.

Additional speakers include culinary expert Barbara Mills, owner of the Back of the House Cooking School; Brittany Williams, the reigning Miss United States; Those 2 Girls concierge team of Laura and Cathy;  author of Hug Your Kids Today Michelle Nichols; The Nevada Casting Group fashion and modeling agency; and more, including talks on cellulite, green cosmetics, and self-defense. There’ll be some belly dancing going on too!

The Nevada Women’s Expo (http://www.nevadawomensexpo.com) is an annual two-day event to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. In addition to workshops and presentations, the Expo includes 200 exhibitor booths. Expo booths range from cosmetics to insurance, to massage, health, fitness, food, wine, fashion, handbags, shoes, travel, education, volunteering, career and finances.

At the Nevada Women’s Expo, women have a chance to feel pampered, sample products, wine-taste, network, find that perfect gift or ideal piece of jewelry or – most exciting – to win one of the expo’s many door prizes, such as a $100 Expo shopping spree, a fashion shoot valued at $1,200 and a landscaping package valued at $3,000.

The Nevada Women’s Expo takes place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno, Nevada, on April 4-5. Call 775-750-0841 for more information or visit the NevadaWomensExpo.com website.
