Follow on Google News | The Largest Indoor Broomball Tournament Heads to RichfieldThe largest indoor broomball tournament ever held in the United States will be played March 26-29, 2009 in Richfield, MN. The USA Broomball National Championships will host 54 teams from nine states in seven divisions.
By: USA Broomball There will also be a lot of fun highlights throughout the weekend. USA Broomball has put a lot of focus on youth development at both the collegiate and high school levels. Both Richfield High School and Irondale High School have produced some of the best broomball players in the country over the past 30 years. On Thursday, March 26 at 7:50 pm two teams of alumni from each school will in an exhibition game to honor the generations of broomball played at their schools and the tremendous talent that emanated from them. Other highlights include the Hall of Fame ceremony and the first ever “Ambassador of the Game Award,” which is presented to people who have proven their leadership in promoting the sport of broomball in their communities. This year’s recipients are Nathan Rabe of Rochester, Minnesota and Amy Short of New York City, New York. The Hall of Fame recipients are four individuals that have proven leadership on and off the ice: Dave Boland (Syracuse, NY), Kim Niederluecke (Burnsville, MN), Rich "Hodge" Schrick (Lakeville, MN) and Dave St. Aubin (Burnsville, MN). # # # USA Broomball is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization owned and operated by the Minnesota Sports Federation that was established to promote safe play for broomball participants at all levels. Since 1999 it has been recognized as the official national broomball organization in the country and endeavors to expand organized broomball throughout the United States. End
