March 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Tighter U.S. Emission Controls will mean New Choices for Area Commercial Truck Owners

SEATTLE WASHINGTON, April 14th, 2009  -  Less than one year before the tighter controls on diesel-powered truck emissions take effect, Husky International Trucks, the local Seattle International® truck dealer, is joining a national effort by International® trucks to educate truck owners on the impact to their businesses.

The Town Hall, to be hosted on April 14th, 2009, will focus on two different emission control solutions that will be available to truck customers to ensure they are in compliance with the NEW 2010 U.S. EPA emissions reduction mandate.  Both solutions, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), build on the emissions control technology introduced in 2007, but have distinct differences, advantages, & some very important disadvantages.

“Commercial truck buyers are getting hit hard with a lot information on which solution to choose and we want to help them gain some clarity on what can be a very confusing topic,” according to Shane Petersen, the Sales Manager at Husky International Trucks.

“This event is not just for those in the trucking business,” added Petersen.  “The reality is that many light-duty trucks, like those used by local landscape companies, beverage distributors & grocery stores are all going to be impacted.”

Topics to be covered by the Town Hall meeting will include a discussion on:
- The new Environmental Requirements
- The two Emissions Reduction Solutions: EGR or SCR
- The impact on Business Operations
- The impact on Fuel Economy

Husky International sells International® brand trucks, the only commercial truck manufacturer that will feature Advanced EGR in 2010 in all of it's trucks.  Other truck manufacturers will be using SCR, a technology now being used in Europe that requires the engines to not only use an additional fuel additive known as UREA, but an additional temperature controlled fuel tank to the truck's body which adds hundreds of pounds to the truck's curb wieght.  For information on the 2010 emissions, visit www.huskyinternational.com
