March 12, 2009 - PRLog -- 8fish, an award-winning creative production studio located in Sandy, Utah, is currently producing 13 episodes of Xtreme Tourist, a fast-paced, adrenaline-packed travel show aimed to get viewers excited about experiencing what the world has to offer.

Sponsored in part by American Express Travel partner Morris Murdock Travel, Xtreme Tourist targets individuals interested in a healthy, vigorous lifestyle and the many diverse recreation opportunities available all over the world. 8fish has aligned with Showplace Television Syndication of Chicago to distribute Xtreme Tourist to independent stations across the U.S. The show is scheduled to broadcast beginning in October, 2009, with future plans to broadcast in Europe and Australia. Each episode is 28 minutes, 30 seconds long. The pilot episode, shot in Cancún, can already be viewed at http://www.xtreme-tourist.tv.

This is not 8fish’s first foray into television production. The agency has already enjoyed success as the producer for a large convenience store chain’s adventure-related reality show, Maverik Kick StartTM, winning awards for editing, graphics, cinematography and even the show’s website design.

“With the digital conversion of broadcasting stations this year, we saw a tremendous need for new television programming—programming that is memorable, informative and fun,” said Ernie Harker, 8fish’s President and also Xtreme Tourist’s host. “After our success with Kick Start, I started developing the idea for Xtreme Tourist, a show that not only would meet the demand for new television content, but also provide unique exposure opportunities for our sponsors. It really is a win-win situation for everyone involved.”

Salt Lake NBC affiliate KSL Channel 5 was the first station to recognize the potential of Xtreme Tourist and picked it up for their fall lineup. “This show has all kinds of potential for advertisers, with its unique twist on the traditional travel shows currently popular on the cable networks,” said Dale Z. Darling, KSL’s head of DOS and Commercial Production. “This show involves extreme adventures and extreme vacation bookings to provide not just entertainment to watch, but entertainment that motivates people to book flights, cruises, hotel reservations and rental cars. It's the perfect show for so many potential companies looking to advertise to an eager travel crazy population.”

Traveling with a crew of experienced outdoor filmmakers, the host provides an active adventurer’s point of view on the culture, cuisine, and accommodations in the world’s greatest vacation destinations. Filming documentary style allows the team to capture Mr. Harker’s raw reactions to the local customs, nightlife, and exclusive adventures available only through an informed travel guide.

8fish is offering the first season of Xtreme Tourist at no charge to broadcasters struggling to fill their expanded inventory with entertaining content.
