Direct Marketing occurs when the “producer” connects with the end user. This may be the consumer or business. Direct marketing describes the interactive communication with the end user.  

Direct Marketing is not mass marketing. The most effective form of direct marketing takes place when there is a clear connection to reach the target market Face to Face.  

Types of Direct Marketing
1.   Internet  
2.   Direct Mail
          a.   Advantages: Geographic, demographic, tangible, can read it, large quantities   blitz a region, comes right to you, transferable, coupons  
          b.   Disadvantages: Junk mail, throw it out, no audio, no feedback, no interaction, can’t answer questions, stamps are expensive.  
3.   Telemarketing
         a.   Advantages: Geographic, hit certain demographics, feedback, large volume, leads, warm market, ask questions, personalized.  
         b.   Disadvantages: Hang ups (not a good response) are not tangible, not visual. A “Telephone Preference List” was passed by the government (do not call list)  
4.   Face to Face Promotional Advertising = Why are we in business? Everyone need to advertise.  TV = Name recognition = McDonalds Carlsberg Tesco 02 Victoria Beckham Marks & Spencers   They still need to advertise on mass media to keep name recognition and help gain market share.  Competition = Makes you use incentive programs to pull people trough the door. Cars = No money down, cash back, low APR Furniture = No payments until Banks = Free checking  This is what we do we help clients incentive their industry. We find out what they can give away i.e. food cost.
