March 12, 2009 - PRLog -- The following statement can be attributed to Scott Fischbach, Executive Director of Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life:

In a stunning video interview posted on CNN this evening Dr. Sanjay Gupta asks former President Clinton about President Obama’s recent embrace of federal taxpayer funding of embryo killing research.

The interview can be viewed here:

Dr. Gupta:  “Is this (ESCR) going to become the abortion of the next generation or are people going to come around?

Former President Clinton: “I think we will work it through if it particularly is done right.  If it is obvious that we are not taking embryos that can, under any conceivable scenario would be used for a process that would allow them to be fertilized and become little babies and I think if it is obvious that we are not talking about some science fiction cloning of human beings then I think the American people will support this.”

Later in the interview President Clinton states: “there are values involved that we all ought to feel free to discuss and in all scientific research and that is the one thing I think that these committees need to make clear they are not going to fool with any embryos where there is any possibility, even if it is somewhat remote, that they could be fertilized and become human beings.”

It was an amazing interview to watch the former President show utter ignorance about basic Human Biology 101.  As most Junior High School students are taught, human embryos are, “little babies,” and do not need to be fertilized as the former President states.  It is clear that his lack of understanding of basic human biology has led to his support of the killing of the embryos.

President Clinton also fails to mention that all advances in medical treatments thus far have come from adult stem cell research and not through the killing of human embryos.
