March 9, 2009 - PRLog -- Diana Newton, Co-Founder of the Silver Star Families of America, announced today that more than 700 cities and counties nationwide had issued proclamations in support of Silver Star Banner Day.

“Silver Star Banner Day is a day set aside to remember and honor the wounded and ill of our armed forces on May 1st of every year,” Newton stated.

“This is just wonderful,” she continued.  “This means that on May 1st communities across the United States will fly the Silver Star Service Flag, hold ceremonies and honor those who have given so much for our freedoms and who are so often forgotten.”

“What is even more amazing is that over 500 cities and counties have made the day permanent.  No longer will those wounded, with visible and invisible wounds, be forgotten.”

“I want to thank all the Mayors, County Commissioners and everyone involved in this effort.  What a wonderful out pouring of love and respect.”

The organization is striving for 1000 cities and all 50 states to join with them on May 1st.
