March 7, 2009 - PRLog -- Brain Tea association, the Franco Sri Lankan association for knowledge exchange, organizes the projection of the film « Dark Night of the Soul », a film inspired by « Resurrection » of Tolstoy and directed by the famous Prasanna Vithanage.

The film received many national and international awards after its release in 1996. It will be screened for the first time in Paris.

The film revolves around the guiltiness of a middle-aged man who meets 25 years later, at a murder trial, the once young servant girl of his aunt whom he had made pregnant and abandoned.

But this film also shows the Sri Lankan Society critically and two major political events are in the background of the film: the uprising of the Sri Lankan youth, the first in 1971 and the second in 1987 when absolute terror ensued.

A quick presentation of the Sri Lankan social and political context will be done before the screening and afterwards, a discussion by videoconference with the director in Sri Lanka will take place.

The film is in the original version with English subtitles. Film duration: 87 min.
A French-English interpreter will be present in order to facilitate the communication between the English and French speaking parties.
The entrance is free.
