She attributes the continued success of American Dream Cakes to [her] "family, friends, and loyal customers. American Dream Cakes was voted best bakery by the Daily News readers in 2007 & 2008. She won the Best Dessert category at the Business Expo twice.” Gunilla was born to bake. Her great grandfather and his brother were pastry chefs and owned a bakery in Sweden. She keeps a picture of them hanging in her bakery to remind her of her heritage. She began baking cakes when stationed in Germany in 1992 and has over 12 years cake design experience working in professional bakeries in the United States. Randy and Gunilla came to Jacksonville, North Carolina in 1999. Thus, American Dream Cakes was born.
