March 4, 2009 - PRLog -- Eight years ago, Randy and Gunilla Kroshus, embarked on their American dream.  On March 14, 2009, American Dream Cakes, Kroshus’ family owned bakery, is set to celebrate its eighth year in business. In addition, Gunilla Kroshus, who is from Sweden, became a U. S. citizen on February 27, 2009.

Gunilla says, “We never use pre-baked/frozen cakes, nor do we use readymade icings. Every order is baked and decorated fresh on the premises. She attributes the continued success of American Dream Cakes to [her] "family, friends, and loyal customers. American Dream Cakes was voted best bakery by the Daily News readers in 2007 & 2008. She won the Best Dessert category at the Business Expo twice.”

Gunilla was born to bake. Her great grandfather and his brother were pastry chefs and owned a bakery in Sweden. She keeps a picture of them hanging in her bakery to remind her of her heritage.  She began baking cakes when stationed in Germany in 1992 and has over 12 years cake design experience working in professional bakeries in the United States. Randy and Gunilla came to Jacksonville, North Carolina in 1999. Thus, American Dream Cakes was born.

Randy and Gunilla Kroshus are members of the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce, Swansboro Chamber of Commerce, and the Jacksonville South Rotary Club. Join the celebration on March 14, 2009. They will be giving away one free cupcake per person as well as having in-store specials that day.  To view examples of her wonderful creations or for more information visit her website at www.americandreamcakes.com
