What went wrong on The Bachelor?  It happens in “real life” everyday…
America has been in a state of shock the past two nights.  Well the viewers of the Bachelor have been anyway.  The most shocking rose ceremony ever, and then there was the most shocking of all…after the rose ceremony.   So what happened?  It’s actually not that shocking when you take a closer look.
It would appear that Jason fell out of love with Melissa.  He was still attracted to her but he said the feeling had changed during the weeks after they returned from New Zealand.  He didn’t actually fall out of love with Melissa, my guess is that she stopped validating his Deep Love strategy so he no longer felt deeply loved by her.  This seems to happen a lot on this show, because if you look back over the past 12 seasons there has only been one lasting relationship that has led to marriage.  It also happens a lot in “real life”, just look at the divorce statistics.
We have strategies for how we do things, like buying things, attracting a mate and especially how we feel deeply loved.   In the setting of  “The Bachelor” the Attraction Strategy for Jason was very strong with several of the ladies, and no wonder, they were gorgeous and intelligent.   There are two elements of attraction, Physical and Intellectual, so it was very hard for him to decide who he felt the most love for and from whom.  This was confusing for him because his Deep Love Strategy was being validated very strongly by Melissa and Molly by default due to the setting of the last episodes.
The Deep Love Strategy falls into one of three categories; visual, auditory, or kinesthetic (touch).  They were in a beautiful location, going on wonderful dates, spending intimate time together, saying loving things, and touching and holding each other every minute they were together.  No wonder the bachelors and bachelorettes are so confused by who to select at the end of the show.
To make matters worse, Deanna came back and told him she made a mistake and wanted to give him another chance!  Whoa!  So what happened?  My hallucination is that once Jason and Melissa got back to the States and started a normalized relationship, she stopped validating his Deep Love Strategy and he stopped feeling deeply loved.  Melissa obviously didn’t feel less loved by Jason.  At least she did not show it until after he told her his feelings had changed.
So what if you figure out your partners deep love strategy?  Does that mean your relationship will be 100% successful?  I wouldn’t say anything is 100% but the odds are much better knowing what it is and how to validate it.
What is Jason’s Deep Love Strategy, your guess is as good as mine, let’s just hope Molly figures it out and they live happily ever after for Ty’s sake.
