Catholic Brotherhood Website is First of Its Kind

Vibrant communities of Catholic religious brothers are featured in a new website.

March 2, 2009 - PRLog -- The smiling young faces of new religious communities of men, as well as older established ones, are a sign of what may be a revival of an oft-forgotten vocation in the Catholic Church — that of the religious brotherhood.
These vibrant communities can be seen on a new website devoted exclusively to the religious brotherhood. Launched Feb. 21, the website aims to bring to light a better understanding of this “forgotten” vocation. Steeped in dark tones of red with black and filled with pictures of happy brothers in various apostolates, the website portrays a sense of the sacred enlivening the modern world.
The website, launched by the Libertyville, IL-based Institute on Religious Life (IRL), is the only one that describes and promotes the vocation of brotherhood in general, as well as providing abundant links to a variety of communities, said Michael Wick, IRL Executive Director.
“The website is not only unique, but the entire process of creating it gave all of us a greater appreciation for this often overlooked vocation within the Church,” “This vocation is a tangible reminder of the ‘Brotherhood of Christ’.”
Wick said that the website, funded by Our Sunday Visitor Institute, and designed by Visual Rhythm Design, has as its purpose to become the premier Internet portal of information on this form of consecrated life by not only promoting vocations, but proclaiming to Catholic laity its value and charism and providing a website that speaks for all brothers who are authentically living out the evangelical counsels of the Church.
The website provides key elements to better explain the vocation along with a listing of valuable services and ministries that brothers provide to the Church. There are 28 religious communities currently listed, with short descriptions of each.
See the website at http://www.ReligiousBrotherhood.com. To arrange an interview, contact Michael Wick at 847-573-8975, or email him at the email below.

The Institute on Religious Life (IRL) promotes and supports the growth, development, and renewal of the consecrated life—particularly vowed religious life—as a gift to the Church and an evangelical witness to the world.
