March 2, 2009 - PRLog -- GIRO Inc. announced today that its HASTUS-Bid software has been selected by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to facilitate the operator pick process for its bus and rail divisions. HASTUS-Bid is fully integrated with the CTA’s HASTUS scheduling software and will provide a centralized system for managing and processing system picks (location or garage selection) and section picks (work selection).

HASTUS-Bid integrates fully with HASTUS scheduling modules and uses a centralized database for accessing run and employee data. It also supports automatic reporting, which further simplifies and accelerates administrative tasks involved in the pick process.

HASTUS-Bid can be easily configured to ensure compliance with established collective agreement rules and employee seniority – which, in the case of the CTA, apply to two separate transit divisions. Bus and rail operators will be able to make their selections (without the risk of duplicating picks) based on runs previously created by the HASTUS-Crew module, which feeds run information to HASTUS-Bid to ensure a streamlined and efficient pick process.

The acquisition of HASTUS-Bid for the CTA’s approximately 6,000 bus and rail operators represents GIRO’s largest-ever installation of the pick processing module. The parties will begin implementation in the spring of 2009, gradually replacing the in-house systems currently being used by the CTA.

The CTA anticipates reducing the time it currently takes to conduct a full system and sectional pick for all operators and translate the time savings directly to a cost savings. The agency expects the implementation of HASTUS-Bid to assist in accurately planning daily scheduled work, efficiently assigning open pieces of work, and interfacing with the HRM system.

“The CTA is one of our largest customers, so we’re very pleased to provide them with an additional HASTUS module to help facilitate operator picking,” said GIRO Account Manager, Robert Victor. “Having a unified system for both bus and rail divisions will simplify the pick process for administrators and operators alike.”
