Feb. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Crazed-looking wooden dogs and recycled 20th Century farm implements are just part of a bizarre collection that will be featured at an Artists’ Reception at the Red Bluff Art Gallery on Friday, March 6th from 5-8 p.m.

Three exhibitions open simultaneously, including a Group Exhibit entitled “Abstractions” featuring local artists. Popular abstract artist and sculptor, Reeba Barrows, is featured in the Solo Gallery with her show, “Tangible Abstractions”. And Marianna Love brings magic and color to the Featured Artist spotlight with her exhibit, “Love’s Vibrant Colors”.

Dan Ferrarese adds an archival and bizarre twist to the exhibitions with a sculpture, “Plow Point & Fence Post”. The piece is fashioned from an archival wooden fence post (“archival” is a technical term that means the wood was functional and in use for more than 100 years) and various antique truck and farm implement parts.

“I’ve used wrenches from the 1920’s, a wheat harvester tine (1940), and a harrow from a 1930’s farm seeder to complete the sculpture,” says Dan Ferrarese.

The Abstract Group Exhibit also includes wooden dogs that Gallery Co-Director Phil Dynan describes as “looking like they recently escaped from Rancho Tehama.” Artist Lydia Bee, whose work was recently featured on the cover of “Cloth-Paper-Scissors” Magazine, created the colorful dogs from wood scraps. Lydia is known for her pet personalized pet portraits, but the pieces in the Exhibit are “just for fun.”

Newcomer, Kyle Cameron Hanson, brings his magical digital abstractions to the Group Exhibit. Kyle is twelve years old and autistic, but his work surpasses digital exploration by artists much older. His work is heavily influenced by sound. He described one of his paintings as “what the music (a song by Sting) looks like.”

The artists’ Reception for the opening of the three exhibitions will be from 5-8 PM on Friday, March 6th. The Big Picture and the Montana Morrison Art Museum will also have Artist Receptions at the same time. All are within easy walking distance of each other. The Receptions are part of the new “First Friday Art Night” sponsored by the Red Bluff Art Gallery every “first Friday” of each month.

Everyone is welcome to attend the Artists’ Reception on Friday night. Dress casual and expect to have fun and be surprised at the large array of unique art. Receptions at the Gallery generally attract 150-200 people. And just like the artists, the viewers come from all walks of life – from young students to bank presidents to retired dentists and organic farmers!

The Red Bluff Art Gallery is at 516 Walnut (kitty corner to the Post Office). More information is available by phoning 529-1332, or by visiting the website at www.RedBluffArtGallery.com.  The Red Bluff Art Gallery, sponsored by Blue Oaks Arts, is open weekdays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
