Bill Bartmann Business Talk – Part 4 – Bill Bartmann Talks about Planning your new Business

Becoming a Business Owner Represents the American Dream of Entrepreneurship

Feb. 25, 2009 - PRLog -- Tulsa, OK – Our faltering economy has forced many companies to downsize as people are laid off; unemployment continues to be a major concern.  In spite of the risks and pitfalls involved with business ownership, many are realizing that they have no choice; they must do something to survive.  Bill Bartmann, experienced business owner and developer, continues a series of interviews where he discusses educating entrepreneurs on the essentials of business ownership.

Bill Bartmann discussed the items to consider once an entrepreneur has decided what they will do, the type of business they will have and where their business will be located.  Bill said, “Once you decide what you want to do the next step is to plan how you will go about it.  Do you possess the necessary skills to run your business?  Can you do it by your self or will you need to hire help?  How much equipment and supplies do you need to get started?”

Bartmann explained further, “Also consider the legal requirements to operating your business.  The County Courthouse, City Hall, and Secretary of State’s website are some good resources for learning about licenses, permits, ordinances and other issues pertaining to your field of business.

This interview with Bill Bartmann makes it very clear that there is a lot involved when building a new business, from the ground up.  Bill explained the importance of a solid business plan and how it helps an entrepreneur to present himself as a professional as he negotiates a lease, applies for credit from vendors and applies for a business loan or a business line of credit.

Bill Bartmann addressed start up costs involved with establishing a new business, advertising and marketing, technology, market supply and demand and how to research these topics to become informed and educated about business ownership in your field of choice.

The final point Bartmann made as the interview was concluded was, “Are you starting your business with the intention of selling it when you retire?  Are you hoping your children will take over one day?  Many business owners do not think this far ahead.  If you plan to sell the business in the future, you must build something that will be attractive to investors.”
