GAO Announces New Generation of Optical Power Meters

Feb. 24, 2009 - PRLog -- Toronto, Canada - GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) now offers a new generation of high-performance optical network test meters - Optical Power Meter (GAO800). The optical meter features fast field test implementing the latest laser exploration and processing technology and is specially designed for optical network maintenance, equipment research and development. It is widely used in the testing of LANs, wide-area networks, metropolitan networks, CATV or long-distance fiber networks.
GAO's Optical Power Meter can be used to test optical power within the wavelength range of 800nm to1600nm either in units of μW, dB or dBm. This high accuracy device offers various wavelength calibration points and is able to distinguish the fiber type, accurately test fiber loss, check fiber continuity, and, with laser sources, assist in evaluating the transmission quality of a fiber chain. The optical meter also supports both linearity and non-linearity tests and displays direct and relative tests of fiber optical power.
