Feb. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- Tom Upton, author of "Just Plain Weird" and "Morning Doves", said there are no plans to release a hardcopy issue of Four by Horror. "Four by Horror is really just a sampler," Upton explained. "I think it's only fair to offer readers a low cost example of what I'm doing in the horror genre. As a reader, I've always hated paying a lot of money for a book only to discover that I didn't particularly like the book for one reason or another."

Four by Horror is available only on Amazon Kindle for a mere $0.99. Upton says its release is in preparation for Scarecrows, a horror novel scheduled to be realeased in the spring of 2009. "I'm really surprised how well it's doing," Upton said of the four story collection, which has reached Amazon Kindle sales ratings as high as 17th place in Short Stories and 82nd in Horror. "There's something heady about seeing something you've written holding its own, if only for a brief time, with books written by Stephen King and Dean Koontz."

Upton also disclosed that he is working on another horror novel, The Barrington Monkey, a tale of two dysfunctional teens tormented by a demonic semian. Upton couldn't comment on when The Barrington Monkey might be released. "It's really up in the air how or who will publish the book. What amazes me is all the interest, and what sparked that interest. I barely mentioned the project. I have been concentrating on the work I know will be released in 2009, so why all the interest in a book that may not come out until 2011?"
