Coral Ridge Ministries Airs the Evidence for America’s Christian Roots, February 15 and 22, on The Coral Ridge Hour



FORT LAUDERDALE, FL. (February 13, 2009) – The Coral Ridge Hour makes the case for America’s Christian founding this Sunday, February 15, when it airs the documentary special One Nation Under God.



The two-part TV special, which concludes on February 22, visits Mount Vernon, the Library of Congress, Williamsburg, Yorktown, even George Washington’s church in Pohick, Virginia, to present evidence for the decisive role that the Christian faith played in forming America. “One of the greatest concerns of Coral Ridge Ministries’ founder, the late Dr. D. James Kennedy, was that the nation would forget the true history of America and the true source of her greatness, which is her Christian heritage,” said Dr. Jerry Newcombe, senior producer of The Coral Ridge Hour. “In fact, we owe the very existence of our nation to the guiding hand of God. Yet there are those who want to ignore or even suppress this wonderful part of our history.”

The two-part documentary features historians David Barton, Dr. Peter Marshall, Dr. Peter Lillback, constitutional scholar Dr. Daniel Dreisbach, and political scientist Dr. Donald Lutz, who has researched the Bible’s pivotal influence on our nation’s origin.



Lutz, with the late Dr. Charles Hyneman, conducted a massive ground-breaking study of some 15,000 political documents from America’s founding era and found that “Deuteronomy is cited more than John Locke or anyone else. And when you take all the Biblical citations together, they almost equal all other references.”



David Barton, founder of Christian heritage organization WallBuilders, states on the program that, “Of the 250 folks that we would call the Founding Fathers, there are maybe a dozen . . . that weren’t religious.”  



The TV special is complete with dramatizations and looks at the people—from the Pilgrims through to the Founding Fathers—who gave birth to our nation and established it on biblical ideas.
