Feb. 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Women of all angling abilities will have an opportunity to learn fishing skills from local experts at the award winning “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!”® seminar, March 20-22 in Naples, FL. Held in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and presented by Mercury Outboards, the program will offer a weekend of educational fishing activities at the Naples Bayfront Inn on 5th Ave. The program has rolled back prices with a $99 early entry discount for reservations made by Feb. 20.

The seminar will kick off with the Raymond James networking happy hour at the Bayfront Inn on Friday evening, March 20, from 6-8 pm. The classroom portion starts at 8:00 am on Saturday, March 21, where fishing techniques will be taught at beginner and intermediate/advanced levels in the morning. Fishing topics will be Rod and Reel Basics/Capt. Roan Zumfelde, Inshore/Capt. Mark Block, Offshore and Bottom/Capt. Will Geraghty and Fly Fishing, Capt. Roan Zumfelde. After lunch, the women will participate in several “hands-on” fishing stations, such as conservation techniques, spin casting, net casting, landing and releasing, knot tying, gaffing grapefruits, boat handling and reeling against pressure, until 4:30 pm. On Sunday, March 22, participants have the option to practice their newly learned skills from either a bay/backcountry or party boat, followed by a fillet class.

Year after year, participants praise the program and share the experience with fellow female anglers. “The learning never stops! An incredible hands-on learning experience!” said  Cynthia Tutino, Naples, FL. Karen LaFleur, Fort Lauderdale, FL added, “An excellent venue to learn fishing in a non-threatening, non-intimidating environment!  As mothers, aunts and female family members, we got information to teach and instill conservation values in our children."

The series selected the Naples area for its Gulf Coast location due to its excellent fishing.
Featured on national network television and more, the series is held in conjunction with the FWC through the Sport Fish Restoration Program, with major partners such as Mercury Outboards, Ranger, BoatU.S. ANGLER Insurance, Gulfstream Int’l Airlines and Shimano. There will be opportunities for local businesses and area anglers to take an active role in the seminar.

Early registration is just $99 when made 30 days or more in advance. Regular registration is $125 up to a week before the event and $145 for walk-ins and the week of the event. Registration includes instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception and silent auction, meals, goody bags and more. The Sunday Fishing Adventure, with tackle and bait provided, is additional.
