Jeremy Hobbs, Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Upper Canada District School Board and Richard Carson, Director of Marketing and Communications at Concept Interactive will jointly present a 45-minute information-packed session on how Upper Canada District School Board took a tactical approach in delivering SharePoint to over 5,500 staff and nearly 35,000 students and parents by turning questions into a delivery strategy.

Jeremy Hobbs is CIO for the Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB), overseeing 122 schools. Having started his career as a teacher, Jeremy worked on IT strategy in Ottawa-Carleton and Peel District School Boards and then moved to the UCDSB in 2004. He immediately began building a leading IT organization, founded on principles of operational excellence and tight alignment to the business and learning needs of the Board. Among the key achievements of the UCDSB IT department has been an integrated IT strategy that includes a fully automated identity management system, Board-wide rollout of a Microsoft Portal called Insite, and a comprehensive, integrated approach for upgrading school infrastructures – all accomplished while reducing overall budget by 17%. In 2007, Jeremy was asked to take on the Facilities portfolio for the UCDSB in addition to maintaining the CIO role and bring the same brand of operational excellence and customer focus to that area.

Richard Carson leads the marketing and communications team for Concept Interactive, a leader in the delivery of SharePoint technologies through services and ISV solutions. Richard acts as a trusted advisor for many of Canada’s top organizations for SharePoint solution strategy and delivery by leveraging best practices gathered from over 400 successful implementation projects.
