Feb. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- A recent research on the relationships between age of marriage and divorce rate reported by the Atlanta Journal Constitution have revealed some interesting insights. It is reported that "Early marriage is a key predictor of later divorce. Nearly half of people who marry under age 18 and 40 percent under age 20 end up divorced. It's only 24 percent for people who marry after age 25."

In fact, the research went as far as giving an estimated 10 years time likeliness for a teenage couple to divorce. If marrying too early is a cause for divorce, marrying late is a cause for lower quality marriage, as revealed by a similar research conducted by the National Farherhood Initiative (NFI).

The telephone survey concluded that the ideal age for marriage seem to fall between 23-27 years old, as this age group are half as likely to head for divorce compared to the lower age group and generally enjoy a more fulfilling marriage that the higher age group. This may be due to the fact that the more mature age group are pressured into getting married by their peers and biological limitations, resulting in them picking a less than ideal partner.

However, aiming to get married at the "right" age is already beyond reach for couples who found themselves facing the possibility of divorce. The question remained, 'How can we stop all these divorces from happening and fix the broken relationships?' Relationship author, T. W. Jackson suggest that stopping a divorce should start from tackling it from its source.

One of the main reason for divorce is infidelity, which is deeply rooted in dissatisfaction in a marriage and boredom. Women are fast catching up with the men in this department, as infidelity on the woman's side accounts 4 out of 10 cheating cases.

While men and women tend to seek excitement beyond marriage, the men does it because of sexual impulse and peer pressure, while the women stray to seek attention. This means that a divorce is less likely if the men is the cheating party. With the women, the attraction goes beyond sexual gratification, and this makes marriage reconciliation significantly harder.

Communication breakdown is next on the list that often lead to divorce. Jackson remarked that stopping divorce is relatively easier when communication is the problem. Often times, this type of divorce stem from heat of the moment, and the decision to divorce may likely be an impulsive one that is not mutually agreed upon. Hence, the couple is still in love with each other and this provide a strong basis to escape divorce.

Another common reason for divorce is financial issues and disagreement on money matters. It is inevitable that every couple will experience this stage at some point, and trouble are bound to happen if there is not enough to make ends meet. Disagreement on spending allocation can also contribute to financial woes in couples leading to divorce.

Other reasons include childlessness, sexual incompatibility, and vice addiction. On the brighter side, Jackson assured that the odds of preventing a divorce is encouraging regardless of the the reason, although some reasons have higher chances than others.
