Sri Lanka Tourism with BBC World's Spirit of Golf 2009


Sri Lanka Tourism will join hands with BBC World, BBC's international 24-hour news and information channel, to host the Spirit of Golf tournament on 24 January 2009 in New Delhi. It will be held at Jaypee Greens Golf Resort, which is India's first 18-hole, Greg Norman designed, Signature Championship Golf Course. Ninety six golfers will participate at the event, including high profile corporate and business leaders.

Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Bernard Goonetilleke stated, "We are delighted to partner with BBC World's Spirit of Golf 2009. Sri Lanka Tourism’s association with this wonderful event will definitely strengthen our involvement with sports tourism in general and golf in particular.”

She adds, “Being part of this event and BBC’s golfing series whose main focus is to celebrate the heritage of this wonderful sport and is broadcast across the globe, firmly positions Sri Lanka Tourism’s support for golf tourism”.

General Manager of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Vipula Wanigasekera states, “This is an opportunity to interact with the participating corporates to promote Sri Lanka as a venue for their meetings and incentive tours".
