Boutique Apparel Website Updated For Today’s Recessionista

Been shopping at the mall? Like most of us the answer is “no.” And we don’t really miss it. That's why www.santeealleythestore.com decided to seize the “economic downturn” moment and update for what recessionistas really want.

Jan. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- And what recessionistas want is options. So that’s what the new look of www.santeealleythestore.com is all about. Sarah Heekin Redfield, the website’s creator and company owner explains, “what we’re doing is very different from other online boutiques and stores in that we want to advertise, and advertise big, our competition. We want our website to be a complete shopping experience which means giving our clients and visitors the option of going to other stores to check out styles, prices, and maybe even make a purchase while she’s online. I’ve always thought competition is a good thing.” Heekin Redfield added that the definition of today’s recessionista is every female over thirteen who has the intention of shopping. Unlike fashionistas (so last year),  who were women of all ages, shopping for the next trend, no matter what cost.

The competitors on www.santeealleythestore.com that Heekin Redfield is referring  to is a long list from Free People, Nordstrom, bebe, Diane Von Furstenberg to Stuart Weitzman Shoe Outlet. Heekin Redfield explains that today’s recessionista, who is all about time efficiency too, is also first and foremost looking for value. This means doing lots of comparison shopping. Heekin Redfield believes that if a visitor to www.santeealleythestore.com can go to their jewelry page and then from that page check out six or seven other jewelry stores from high-end Tiffany’s to a discounter, that’s fabulous customer service and it’s customer service that usually wins out in the end.

Statistics from the 2008 online holiday season shopping data, as compiled by comScore a leader in measuring the digital world, shows a 7 percent increase in e-commerce sales compared to the same time in 2007. Also, comScore saw that 34 percent of all online sales were generated from referral activity, which includes comparison shopping.

“Our culture is being asked to change the way we spend money and shop due to our economic situation,” says Heekin Redfield, “which actually is a good thing. It makes businesses asks themselves if they are a viable business and are they meeting the needs of consumers. As opposed to taking advantage of consumers and thinking that they’ll buy the first thing they see”

Not taking advantage of consumers has been a mantra for www.santeealleythestore.com since the website’s launch in 2004 and will continue with the updated version. Apparel and accessories offered will be the same great styles and quality at very competitive and very affordable prices,
along with gold-star customer service.
