Jan. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- This week, NYOIL released what will surely be considered one of the most important songs and videos in Hip Hop, "Father, Father". Produced by DJ Green Lantern, the Marvin Gaye inspired track samples his classic hit "What's Going On" and features the voice of Barack Obama giving his now classic speech on Fatherhood during the historic 2008 Presidential election.  The song was originally put together for the Russell Simmons sponsored Barack Obama mixtape, hosted by Green Lantern.

"With the upcoming Presidential inauguration, Barack Obama represents for Americans this incredible example of not only a wonderful President, but a brilliant example of both a father and husband.  He is a beacon for all fathers, in particular Black fathers, of what it is that we as fathers do and have been doing that is rarely reported on or even acknowledged", stated NYOIL.

In preparing for the release of "Father, Father", NYOIL came across a quote about fatherhood in Hip Hop by Snoop Dogg from a press conference held in 2007, and made the following statement in response:

"Having read Snoop's quote, I am encouraged to see Hip Hop on all spectrums of the culture recognizing the importance of fatherhood and the need to be community parents.  The fact that Snoop is a multifaceted being who enjoys adult and explicit pleasures, yet still is a devoted father both at home and in the community working with his Football League, etc. is important.

For my part I am dedicating this year to positive affirmations to encourage and motivate this music culture and the community to a better place. The time for lynching rappers is done.  Now and until the end of my days I will be a father and guiding hand in Hip Hop for the sake of my children, my culture and those influenced by my music."

Unsure as to why "Father, Father" did not make the final cut for the mixtape and recognizing the importance of the song he created, NYOIL did exactly what his fans and supporters have come to expect by releasing it independently. The video, now available at www.wheresmydad.info and www.nyoil.com, was produced by NYOIL with the help of supporters from all over the world who sent pictures of themselves with their children or pictures of them and their fathers. "When I sent out the call to my fans and friends to donate the pictures, I didn't expect to be as emotionally impacted as I was.  Having grown up without a father, the importance of a father in the lives of children resonates deeply within me", said NYOIL.  "Making the video became a very personally impacting process and brought me face-to-face with issues that I didn't expect to have to come to terms with regarding my relationship with my own father, or lack thereof. My video is reflective of my personal desire to develop music and a movement based on positive affirmations."

Inspired by the overwhelming number of pictures he received for inclusion in the "Father, Father" video, which conveyed such personal stories, NYOIL is currently putting together a coffee table book with fathers' stories, both triumphs and tragedies, which will be available in time for Father's Day.
