Top Lladro Artist Comes To West Palm Beach Show - January 30th To February 1st 2009

Franciso Polope, one of Lladro’s most talented artists, will be traveling from Spain to take part in the 23rd Annual Florida Antiques & Gifts Expo at the West Palm Beach Hilton. Mr. Polope will be signing his work for collectors.

Jan. 7, 2009 - PRLog -- This is the first time that Lladro has exhibited at the prestigious pottery and porcelain  show in West Palm Beach and this rare artist signing event is expected to draw Lladro fans from all over Florida.

The centerpiece of the West Palm Beach show will be Cinderella’s Arrival which is Francisco Polope’s masterpiece and one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken at Lladro’s City of Porcelain in Valencia.  It is also one of Lladro’s biggest pieces, standing 25 ½ inches tall and 45 ½ inches long.  The artistic and technical virtuosity of Lladro’s artists and craftsmen have come together to recreate the magical moment in Perrault’s fairytale when Cinderella arrives at the ball in her horse-drawn carriage. Luxury, magic and dreams are entwined in this breathtakingly beautiful porcelain tableau.

Fairytales and fantasy have often inspired Polope’s creations as can be seen in his Little Tin Soldier from Hans Christian Anderson’s famous story and his Underwater Journey featuring mermaids riding in a seahorse carriage. Polope has also given us gentle humor with his recent Circus collection of traveling clowns.  Love, marriage, faith and childhood dreams are among the other themes that Polope has explored in his long and distinguished career with Lladro.

Polope’s latest work is a magnificent oriental dragon which symbolizes power, strength and prosperity. The Lladro artists have used a new combination of bright enamels and metallic lusters to create the Great Dragon in dramatically different colors. The blue dragon comes from water and light and symbolizes spring whereas the red dragon represents summer, the heat of the battle and courage.  The marvelous detailing in the dragon’s scales, crests, whiskers and claws make each sculpture a complex technical and artistic feat.

The Lladro exhibition at the West Palm Beach show offers a rare occasion to see spectacular ‘High Porcelain’ pieces, such as Cinderella’s Arrival and the Great Dragon, outside Lladro’s museum and showrooms. It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet one of Lladro’s most respected artists. Ed Pascoe, the President of Pascoe and Company, who has hosted the West Palm Beach show for the last 22 years, says: “We are honored to have Francisco Polope and Lladro participating at our event for the first time and we invite all Lladro collectors to take advantage of this unique occasion.”

Mr. Polope will be appearing at the West Palm Beach Hilton, 150 Australian Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday 31st January from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday 1st February from 10:00am to 4:00pm. ADMISSION IS FREE.
