Dec. 23, 2008 - PRLog -- Alfapass launched recently their Alfapass ONLINE customer application, allowing users to register online as a new customer, order cards directly and even pay online, if requested. New cards ordered online during the morning will be available for collection the same day, otherwise latest on the next business day.

The application offers a wide range of “self-service” functions. Customers are able to manage their own cards (withdrawn from service / report lost or stolen cards), consult the history of their cards and call up a number of selective reports (detail per card, list of active cards within their company, statement of subscriptions, etc.).
The administration of “starter” cards, which is a dedicated card type for the transport industry, has also been fully integrated in the Alfapass ONLINE application. The registration of ADR qualifications for drivers (transport of dangerous goods) will be added in the first quarter of 2009.

In order to make use of these new functions, customers only need to have an e-mail address and to go once through the online user-registration.  More details can be found on www.alfapass.be.

Alfapass is a Belgian company, created end 2004, in result of the ISPS regulations.
Alfapass is responsible for the issue and management of a central Identification Card, granting access to the Ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge.
Today, the Alfapass Card Management System (abbreviated as ACMS) contains > 40.000 cards, serving a total of more than 5.000 clients. Alfapass Cards are based on RFID technology. Each card is tailored to personal requirements using a specific cardtype, enabling the card holder to be identified immediately by their qualification and the nature of their profession (e.g. truck driver, dockworker, ship repairman, port installations personnel, visitor etc.). The system also uses biometric enrolment of the hand allowing each card holder to be uniquely identified in all subsequent security and/or logistical processes at the terminals.
