New Candidate for Holy Orders in The Celtic Christian Church

Dec. 20, 2008 - PRLog -- Judy Sullivan Kahler, pastor of Saint Bridget’s Celtic Christian Church in Central Florida, has been officially accepted for the formation process of Holy Orders in the Celtic Christian Church by the Most Reverend Joseph Grenier, PhD., presiding bishop of the CCC.
As part of her preparation for ordination, Kahler is doing graduate work in Theology at Saint Leo University, plus additional studies in Celtic Christianity, homiletics and administration of the sacraments.

Kahler is also a graduate of Audire, School for Spiritual Direction, a three-year program for the development of trained spiritual directors. She has a private practice in spiritual direction in Central Florida, is a certified trainer for Centering Prayer and leads retreats and workshops on creativity, spirituality and memoir writing.

Small communities are forming around the United States, each led by an ordained priest or deacon, or a lay leader.  The Celtic Christian Church is an Independent Catholic Church in communion with several other Independent and Old Catholic Churches around the United States.  It is not in union with the Roman Catholic Church.  It does, however, celebrate the seven major sacraments of the historic Church and has apostolic succession which traces its roots into Roman Catholicism through both Old Catholicism and The Catholic Apostolic Church of Brazil which was formed after World War II by Bishop Duarte Costa who was a Roman Catholic bishop.

The presiding bishop of the Celtic Christian Church is Joseph A. Grenier, Ph.D.  He was ordained in St. Peter's in Rome, December 20, 1958 and holds an STL from St. Thomas Aquinas University in Rome, a Masters in Counseling from Marywood, in Scranton, PA, and a Ph.D. in Church History from Fordham University in NYC.  Having married in 1980, the then Father Grenier later joined the Celtic Christian Communion, and in 1997 was elected presiding bishop of the Celtic Christian Church.  Today Bishop Grenier lives with his wife, Rev. Cait Finnegan, in Pennsylvania where he works for the CCC training new priests, counseling, and giving spiritual direction and private retreats.
